History:
Back in October of 1999, Gregory Pease stayed with us during a short
vacation.
Of course, when two tobacco blenders get together, talk will turn to
tobacco.
During one of our little day trips into the beautiful North Carolina
countryside,
we talked about how much fun it would be to collaborate on some blends.
Later that evening over a bottle of fine single malt, the idea for "Two
Friends" tobaccos began to take shape. After a couple months of
planning,
with two per day phone calls, recipe ideas bouncing back and forth over
email, lots of experimenting, and a little good natured arguing, the
brand
was born.
About the blends, Greg says, "These are wonderful. Neither of
us would
have done them alone, but there was a synergy to our efforts, a merging
of the minds. Each of our unique styles comes through, but they work
together,
like two friends should."
The label art depicts a wonderful old tobacco shed in Valle
Crucis,
NC. Greg took the photo, and we all thought it would be great.

Descriptions:
Bed & Breakfast: Red and bright yellow Virginias are
combined
with fine oriental leaf, toasted Cavendish, and just a bit of rich
Latakia.
Bed & Breakfast is wonderful for a morning or all-day smoke. Its
delicate
flavors and subtle nuances delight the senses. The room aroma is smoky
without being overbearing.
Celtic Mist: A base of the highest grades of Cavendish,
with
just a bit of Burley, is enhanced with wonderfully sweet Virginia
tobacos.
A delightful tobacco flavor sets the stage, enhanced, not overwhelmed,
by the addition of a little essence of Irish Mist. The room aroma is
equally
enchanting to those fortunate enough to be in the presence of the
smoker.
Deacon's Downfall: Dark and mysterious! Rich with
Latakia, Black
Cavendish, dark stoved Virginias and Perique. A bit of oriental leaf
adds
an exotic spice. This is a tobacco for those seeking a big, powerful
flavor
that isn't harsh or overwhelming. One bowl, and you'll know just what
caused
the Deacon's Downfall!
Valle Crucis: A blend of fine stoved Virginia and
oriental tobaccos,
rich Cyprian Latakia, black toasted Cavendish and just a pinch of
Perique.
The mixture is finished with a delicate top note of ginger, perfectly
complimenting
the complex flavors and wonderful aroma of the natural tobaccos. A
subtle
sweetness and gentle spice is present from first light to last puff,
and
a clean, dry ash demonstrates the tobacco's purity.
Redwood: A mixture for Virginia lovers! We start with
naturally
sweet red and stoved red Virginia tobaccos, add enough perique to
provide
some body and spice things up a bit, and finish the blend with a pinch
of unflavored black toasted Cavendish. The color is reminiscent of the
hues of a redwood forest; the flavor is rich and soothing, and the room
aroma is as pleasing as a walk in the woods after a gentle spring rain.
Heritage: A sophisticated, traditional American style
blend!
Red and lemon Virginias are blended in perfect measure with mild brown
and unflavored black Cavendish tobaccos, and a bit of fine, high-grade
burley leaf for just a little extra body. The blend is then delicately
kissed with a subtle and intriguing flavor, enhancing the natural
sweetness
of the Virginias and providing a delightful, light room aroma.
